Salary: from £12 per hour

As an Engagement Co-ordinator at Ethos Care, you will play a central role in supporting the clinical teams to ensure that the overall health, joy, and wellbeing needs of adults with progressive or acquired neurological conditions are met, in accordance with their individual care plans. You will be expected to maintain the dignity and human rights of all our service users in line with Ethos Care’s vision of empowering people to live their best life possible.


Your responsibilities

To participate as an integral member of the wider multi-disciplinary team in the assessing, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual care plans, with a focus on inclusion, and across site participation of service users in all activities. These are multi-faceted and will involve providing support to service users with both their activities of daily living and group/individual activity programmes.


Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • To create, organise and offer service users a stimulating programme of activities offering internal & external activity sessions that meet their emotional, social, physical & intellectual needs.
  • To co-ordinate & produce weekly activity programmes, to include both one to one activities as well as group sessions, ensuring that this is circulated for all service users to know what is taking place. 
  • Ensure the individual needs of service users are met, providing opportunities for individuals to use their skills and enhance their quality of life, whilst maintaining their independence and privacy.
  • To build and maintain good relationships with service users and their relatives, displaying good communication & listening skills, to ensure they are provided with an effective communication network. This may include:
  • Talking and listening to service users.
  • Helping them to maintain contact with family, friends & the community.
  • Assisting with shopping & recreation tasks & opportunities.
  • Being aware of their likes, dislikes, nutritional & cultural needs.
  • Displaying compassion, patience & empathy in all tasks, whilst being creative, organised & reliable in approach to work.
  • Provide companionship and support, on a one-to-one basis for service users who do not want to or are unable to participate in group activities because they are confined or to choose to remain in their rooms.
  • To motivate, encourage & participate in activities with service users, and delegate to Wellbeing Assistants/staff, activity responsibilities to ensure that activities are taking place at regular intervals.
  •  You must only delegate work to someone who has the knowledge, skills and experience needed to carry it out safely and effectively.
  • To arrange photographs of events that take place (subject to the appropriate consent), and evidence these to the Service Manager and provide material for promoting the service.
  • To help to create a warm and friendly atmosphere within the centre, which allows and encourages service users to develop and participate in the running of the home to their fullest potential.
  • Ensure the service provision is anti-discriminatory and culturally sensitive responding to individual needs, with regard to race, religion, culture, language, gender, sexual orientation, age, and disability.
  • Maintain full and accurate records on Nourish Care – Flexible Digital Care Management Software or appropriate documentation (as specified) in order to record and evaluate individual and group engagement.
  • Contribute to activity risk assessments and relevant care plans following the gathering of information and time spent with individuals, utilising the above records as required.
  •  To be responsible for Health & Safety during activities & that of anybody else who may be effected. Ensuring staff members know how to use the appropriate equipment and safe working practice is promoted throughout all activities.
  • To promptly report any information, issues or concerns regarding the care, support, wellbeing, or behaviour of service users.
  • To provide direct supervision of the Wellbeing Assistants, ensuring professional lines of accountability and priorities are met and that all policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.


To work safely and promote the safety of others at all times by being aware of and working within, the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, having particular regard for the following practices:


a) Fire prevention

b) Safer Patient Handling

c) Health & safety

d) Food Handling

e) First Aid


Duties include:

  • To be aware of all fire exit means of escape from any house in which you work at all times.
  • To adhere to the Uniform policy whilst on duty.
  • To be aware of safety and security of environment at all times ensuring all hazards are made safe and reported to the Nurse in Charge immediately.
  • To undertake any training necessary for the completion of your duties. To be aware of compulsory training and dates to attend.
  • To follow Company Policies & Procedures at all times.
  • To ensure the appropriate segregation of waste material and it’s disposal, in accordance with current legislation and Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Prevention and Control.
  • To attend staff and other meetings as requested.


To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by management or mutually determined from time to time.

Shift Patterns

You will be expected to work a 30 hour week from Monday to Friday although there may be occasional weekend working according to the needs of the service, applying a flexible attitude to working hours. Rotas will be set at least 2 months in advance.
